Guided Conversation Flows
Build structured, multi-step qualification pathways with deep link nodes, conditional branching trees, rich action buttons, and anti-loop circuit protection.
1. Overview: What Are Guided Conversation Flows?
A Guided Conversation Flow is a deterministic, multi-step intake journey that guides visitors through specific questions, options, and actions before or alongside standard AI LLM responses.
Unlike open-ended conversational prompts where customers must think about what to type, Guided Flows provide clickable choice buttons, progressive disclosure, and deep-link routing. Industry benchmarks show this delivers up to 3x higher lead qualification rates and cuts bounce rates on customer entry points.
Frictionless Qualification
Users answer 2 to 10 sequential question cards with single taps instead of typing on mobile keyboards.
Conditional Branching
Route prospects to different follow-up questions or distinct offers depending on their exact response.
Deep Link Outcomes
Direct qualified prospects straight to checkout URLs, booking links, or transition smoothly into the AI assistant.
2. How the Guided Flow Engine Works
Every Guided Conversation Flow follows a structured state machine with clear entry triggers, sequential question nodes, dynamic evaluations, and completion handoffs:
Trigger & Entry
The flow is triggered either when a user taps a Flow Card displayed above the chat input, selects a quick button in WhatsApp/Telegram/Instagram, or when an incoming message matches the configured trigger keywords.
Step Progression & State Memory
The widget displays the active step card (e.g. Step 1 of 3: What is your primary company objective?). The user's choice is stored in the session memory state.
Branching & Jump Logic
The engine evaluates the chosen option. If conditional branching is configured, it navigates directly to the target step (or default next sequential step).
Completion & Deep Link Output
Upon reaching the final step, the system executes the completion handler: rendering action buttons with deep links, capturing a lead into DC CRM, or feeding the gathered answers directly into the AI agent prompt.
3. Branching Logic (Conditional Next Steps)
Branching logic enables non-linear conversations. Instead of every user seeing identical questions, you can route prospects based on their exact answers.
Branching Options for Each Answer
- Next Sequential Step (Default): Continues down the numbered list (Step 1 → Step 2 → Step 3).
- Jump to Specific Step: Navigates immediately to a designated step, skipping irrelevant questions (e.g., Step 1 Option B jumps directly to Step 4).
- Complete Flow (Early Exit): Concludes the guided flow immediately on this answer and triggers the completion output.
4. Deep Link Nodes & Rich Button Types
At any step—or upon completing the flow—you can present rich interactive buttons and deep link nodes. Here are the button types available:
Quick Choice Option Buttons
Standard interactive option pills rendered on question cards. Visitors tap to submit an answer and immediately advance to the next step.
Deep Link & Sublink Action Buttons
Custom-styled action buttons that open specific external URLs, campaign sublinks, pricing calculators, or product checkout carts in a new browser tab.
AI LLM Handoff Transition
Synthesizes all gathered answers into a unified summary prompt and delivers it to the AI Agent. The AI responds contextually with deep understanding of everything the user selected.
Survey & 1-Click CSAT Feedback Buttons
One-click rating buttons (1 to 5 stars or sentiment badges) that instantly log customer satisfaction scores into DC Desk and Analytics without requiring typed feedback.
5. Quota & Credit Consumption Model
A core economic advantage of Guided Flows is quota efficiency:
1 Completed Flow Execution = 1 Message Credit
Even if a guided flow contains 5, 8, or 10 sequential question steps, the user traversing the card steps does not consume a credit on every tap. The entire completed intake path is billed as exactly 1 single message credit against your monthly quota upon completion.
This protects your message budget from exhausting rapidly during structured intake while guaranteeing high-fidelity lead data.
6. Plan Limits & The Combined 5-Item Budget
The chat widget accommodates up to 5 interactive starter items total on initial open. Your active plan tier governs the maximum number of Guided Flows you can activate per agent:
| Plan Tier | Active Guided Flows | Default Starter Chips | Widget Display Mix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 Flow | 3 AI Chips | 1 Flow + 3 Chips (4 of 5 slots) |
| Limited ($19/mo) | 2 Flows | 3 AI Chips | 2 Flows + 3 Chips (Full 5 slots) |
| Starter ($49/mo) | 3 Flows | 3 AI Chips | 3 Flows + 2 Chips (Full 5 slots) |
| Growth ($149/mo) | 5 Flows | 3 AI Chips | Up to 5 Flows (or Flows + Chips mix) |
| Scale ($399/mo) | 5 Flows | 3 AI Chips | Up to 5 Flows (Full flexibility) |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | Custom | Top 5 primary flows displayed |
Automatic Slot Calculation Formula
When a visitor opens your chat widget, the system evaluates the available starter slots automatically:
Guided Flows always receive visual priority. Starter Chips backfill any remaining capacity up to 5 items total.
7. Cross-Platform Omni-Channel Execution
Guided Flows work identically across all connected social and messaging channels, automatically adapting to native platform capabilities:
Web Chat Widget
Full interactive cards with step counter, smooth micro-animations, clickable choice pills, and stylized action buttons.
WhatsApp Business
Interactive Quick Reply buttons (up to 3 buttons) or formatted numbered lists where users reply with "1", "2", or the option text.
Telegram Bot
Native Inline Keyboard Buttons with instant callback payloads for zero-latency step advancement.
Instagram & Facebook
Quick Reply bubbles and ice breakers displayed natively inside direct messaging inboxes.
8. How to Configure Guided Flows in Agent Settings
- Navigate to Agent Workspace → Settings → Conversation Tab.
- In the Starter Prompts & Guided Flows section, toggle the mode selector to Guided Flows (Advanced).
- Click "+ Add Guided Flow" (up to your plan limit). Give your flow a Trigger Label (e.g. "Explore Real Estate Options") and a brief description.
- Add up to 10 sequential steps. For each step:
- Enter the prompt question and optional subtitle.
- Add option answers.
- Configure Branching Logic if you want a specific choice to jump to another step.
- Under Step Outcomes, choose whether to provide deep link sublink buttons, an LLM transition, or a 1-click CSAT survey card.
- Click Save Changes at the top right of the dashboard. Your agent immediately reflects the new flow in the widget and all omni-channels!
