Getting Started — One-Click Store Connection

Setting up the Shopify Agent takes under five minutes. Connect your store, and everything else is automatic.

Step 1: Connect Your Store

Click "Connect Shopify Store" and approve the DomainChat app. Your store connects securely via Shopify's official OAuth — no API keys to copy, no manual configuration.

Step 2: Automatic Catalog Sync

The moment your store connects, DomainChat syncs your entire product catalog — names, descriptions, prices, images, variants, stock levels, categories, and collections. This isn't a one-time snapshot: the sync stays live. When you add a product, change a price, or update stock in Shopify, the agent knows instantly via real-time webhooks. Your customers never see outdated information.

Full catalog: products, variants, prices, images
Live stock levels — out-of-stock items are never shown
Real collections from your Shopify admin
Store pages & policies (refund, shipping, privacy, FAQ)
Real-time updates via Shopify webhooks
Your store's currency detected automatically

Step 3: Return Rules Advisory

After connecting, we check whether you've configured return rules in your Shopify admin (Settings → Policies → Return rules). If you haven't, we'll nudge you to set them — including the return window and whether to allow returns at all — because the agent strictly follows whatever rules you configure. No rules set = returns follow your store's defaults.

Step 4: Optional Integrations

During onboarding, we automatically detect whether you run Loop Returns or Recharge subscriptions on your store. If detected, you just confirm and paste your API key — the agent then handles returns through Loop and subscriptions through Recharge natively. You can also enable or disable any integration later from your agent dashboard.

You can change your mind anytime: every integration (Loop Returns, Recharge, proactive features, post-purchase greetings, exit-intent offers) has its own on/off toggle in the dashboard. Nothing is locked in.

AI Shopping — How Customers Find & Buy Products

The core experience: a customer types what they want in plain language, and the agent understands, searches your live catalog, and shows beautiful product cards with images, prices, and Add to Cart buttons. No forms, no filters, no menus — just conversation.

Intelligent Intent Detection

Before the agent responds, it runs the message through multiple AI models to understand what the customer actually wants. Is this a shopping query ("show me gold anklets under ₹2000") or a general question ("what's your return policy?")? Only shopping queries trigger product cards — general questions get text answers from your store's knowledge base. This means customers never see irrelevant products when they're asking about shipping.

Rich Visual Product Cards

When a customer searches, the agent renders beautiful product cards directly in the chat — with the product image, name, price (in your store's currency), live stock status, variant options, and action buttons. Each card includes:

Product image — the same photos from your Shopify store
Price in your store's currency
"Add to Cart" button — adds directly to the customer's cart
"View Details" — opens the product page on your store
Live stock indicator (in stock / out of stock)
Variant options (size, color, material) when applicable

The customer can add to cart without leaving the chat. When they're ready, one click takes them to your store's checkout with everything already in their cart.

How Add to Cart Works

When a customer clicks "Add to Cart" on a product card, the agent communicates directly with your Shopify store's cart system. The product (with the selected variant and quantity) is added to the customer's real shopping cart — the same cart they'd see if they browsed your store directly. A confirmation appears in chat, and the cart badge updates. The customer can then continue shopping in chat or click "View Cart" to check out on your store.

Product Comparison

Customers can ask the agent to compare products side-by-side: "Compare the gold anklet with the silver one." The agent generates a clean comparison table with prices, materials, ratings, and key differences — so customers can decide faster without opening multiple tabs.

Real Search Examples

Example 1 — Specific Search

CustomerCan you find me anklets under ₹2000 in gold?
AgentI found 3 beautiful gold anklets under ₹2000 for you: [3 product cards appear with images, prices, and Add to Cart buttons] Everything here is under ₹900 — want me to narrow it to the minimalist ones?

Example 2 — Casual Browsing

CustomerI need a gift for my wife, something elegant
AgentI'd love to help you find something special! Could you tell me a bit more: What's your budget? And does she prefer minimalist pieces or something more statement-making?
CustomerUnder ₹3000, she likes minimalist
AgentBased on what you've shared, here are my top picks — all minimalist, all elegant: [curated product cards] ✓ all under ₹3000 ✓ all minimalist gold

Example 3 — Trending & Collections

CustomerWhat's trending right now?
AgentHere's what everyone's loving right now — our top sellers this week: [best-seller product cards, ranked by actual sales data from Shopify]

Smart Follow-Up Questions

After every product result, the agent asks one thoughtful, relevant question — never generic. Instead of "Do you want more details?", it offers something useful based on what it just showed:

"Everything here is under ₹900 — want me to narrow it to the gold ones?"

"Three of these are under ₹500 — want the budget picks first?"

"These are all from the Wedding Collection — want to see the rest of it?"

AI-Powered Recommendations, Collections & Trends

The agent doesn't just search — it merchandises. All recommendations come from real data (your actual sales, your actual collections), never invented or random.

Best Sellers & Trending

When a customer asks "what's popular?" or "what are your best sellers?", the agent fetches your store's actual sales ranking from Shopify — the same data you see in your admin. It blends this with real-time chat signals (what shoppers are viewing and adding to cart right now) for the most accurate "trending" list possible.

New Arrivals

"What's new?" pulls your truly newest products — sorted by creation date from Shopify, not a random selection. Customers see genuine new arrivals, and the agent can honestly call them "new arrivals" because they are.

Real Collections

"Show me the wedding collection" navigates your actual Shopify collections — the same ones you've organized in your admin. The agent lists them by name and product count, then shows the products within any collection the customer chooses. No fake collections, ever.

Related Products (Powered by Shopify AI)

When a customer is focused on one product, the agent can offer genuine complements using Shopify's own recommendation engine — the same intelligence that powers "You may also like" on your storefront. For example, after showing a gold anklet: "This pairs beautifully with our pearl toe ring — want to see it?"

AI Stylist Quiz

For fashion and jewelry stores, the agent has a personal stylist mode. When a customer says "help me pick" or "what suits me?", the agent asks a few quick questions (occasion, style, budget), then curates a personalized selection with a "why it matches" note for each product. The customer's stated preferences are remembered for the session and applied to every future search.

Stylist Quiz in Action

CustomerHelp me pick something for my sister's wedding
AgentI'd love to help! A few quick questions: What's your budget? And do you prefer traditional gold or something more modern?
CustomerAround ₹5000, traditional
AgentBased on your style, here are my top picks: [curated cards] ✓ traditional gold ✓ under ₹5000 ✓ wedding-appropriate. Want it more on the statement side or keep it subtle?

Customer Preference Memory (Zero-Party Data Vault)

When customers tell the agent their preferences — "I only wear gold", "budget under ₹2000", "allergic to nickel" — the agent remembers them permanently (securely stored, never inferred or guessed). The next time they visit and say "show me something new", the agent already knows their style, budget, and requirements — and personalizes every result from the first word. Customers can ask "what do you know about me?" or "forget my preferences" anytime for full transparency and control.

This is zero-party data — preferences customers explicitly stated in conversation. No tracking pixels, no behavioral inference, no creepy surveillance. Just what they told us, used to serve them better.

Order Management — Status, Tracking & Actions

Customers can ask about their orders in natural language, and the agent delivers real-time answers from your Shopify store. On the website chat, everything renders as a beautiful unified status card; on WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, and Facebook, the same information is presented as clean formatted text.

What customers askWhat the agent doesWhere it works
"Where is my order?"Shows order status + delivery timeline in one cardWebsite, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook
"Track my package"Shows carrier, tracking number, and a clickable tracking linkWebsite, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook
"What's my return status?"Shows live return state (requested, approved, refunded)Website, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook
"Where's my refund?"Shows refund status and amount already processedWebsite, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook
"Has my order shipped yet?"Shows shipment status with dates and expected deliveryWebsite, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook
"Show my orders"Lists recent orders with items, dates, totals, and action buttonsWebsite

Identity & Security

Order information is protected. On your website, the customer's identity is verified automatically via their Shopify login. On WhatsApp, their phone number is matched against the order. On Instagram, Telegram, and Facebook, the agent asks for the email used at checkout — verified against real orders before any information is shared. A customer can never see someone else's order.

Cancellation Requests — Safe, Item-Level, Store-Approved

When a customer wants to cancel, the agent first checks eligibility (the order must not have shipped yet), then submits a cancellation request to your team — it never cancels directly without your approval. You stay in control.

Eligibility for Cancellation

The order must be unfulfilled / not yet shipped
The order must not already be cancelled
The order must not have an active return in progress
The customer must be verified (logged in / email confirmed)

Item-Level Cancellation

If an order has multiple items, the agent asks: "Do you want to cancel the entire order, or just some items?" Customers can cancel specific items (e.g., just one of three products), and only those items are refunded and restocked — the rest of the order continues shipping normally.

Item-Level Cancellation

CustomerI want to cancel my order #LL1240
AgentThat order has 2 items — 1× Gold Anklet and 2× Pearl Earrings. Do you want to cancel everything, or just some items?
CustomerJust the earrings
AgentConfirm — cancel 2× Pearl Earrings from #LL1240? The anklet will keep shipping as normal.
CustomerYes
AgentYour cancellation request for 2× Pearl Earrings has been submitted and is pending store review. You'll be notified once processed.

How You Approve or Reject

Every cancellation request lands in your DC Desk helpdesk as a ticket. You get an email notification with the full context (customer, order, items, reason). One click:

Approve & Cancel

Cancels the order (or just the selected items) in Shopify. Refund goes back to the customer's original payment method automatically. Stock is restocked.

Reject with Reason

Declines the request with your reason. The customer is informed politely the next time they ask, or via email.

You can also cancel the order yourself in your Shopify admin — the request ticket closes automatically either way.

Returns — Native Flow with Photo & Video Evidence

For stores not using Loop Returns, the agent manages returns natively through your Shopify store — with full photo and video evidence collection, eligibility checking, and merchant approval.

Eligibility for Returns

Return eligibility follows your store's return rules (Settings → Policies → Return rules in your Shopify admin). The agent checks in real time:

The item must be fulfilled (shipped) — unfulfilled items should be cancelled, not returned
The item must be within your return window (if configured)
The item must not be marked "final sale" in your rules
The item must not have been already returned

If you haven't configured return rules, items are returnable once fulfilled — every return still requires your approval before any refund is issued.

The Return Flow — Step by Step

When a customer says "I want to return my anklet":

1. Eligibility check — the agent verifies the order belongs to the customer and checks each item's returnability.

2. Item selection — a beautiful card shows eligible items with checkboxes. The customer picks which items and quantities to return. Ineligible items are shown greyed out with the reason (e.g., "final sale", "already returned").

3. Refund preview — as the customer selects items, a live "Estimated Refund" shows the exact amount they'll get back (items + taxes), before they commit.

4. Reason & photos — the customer picks a reason (Damaged, Wrong Size, Changed Mind, etc.) and can upload photos or short videos as evidence. Files are hosted securely.

5. Submit — the return is submitted to your Shopify store as a REQUESTED return. Nothing is refunded yet.

6. You approve — the return appears in your Shopify admin (and your DC Desk ticket) with all details, photos, and the reason. You approve to trigger the refund, or decline with a reason.

Photo & Video Evidence

Customers can attach photos and short videos to their return directly in the chat — perfect for showing damage, defects, or wrong items. These files are:

Uploaded securely and hosted on Shopify's own CDN
Attached to the return record in your Shopify admin
Also linked in your DC Desk ticket for easy review
Include an email notification to you with the evidence links

Multiple Returns Per Order

Customers can return different items from the same order at different times. If they return the anklet today and the earrings next week, each gets its own return request — the agent tracks what's already been returned and only offers the remaining items.

Loop Returns Integration — Fully Conversational Returns

If your store uses Loop Returns, the agent detects it during onboarding and becomes a fully conversational returns interface — no portal visit required, no forms to fill. Everything happens in chat.

How It Works

The agent talks directly to Loop's API to create returns, select resolutions, and track status — all through natural conversation:

Conversational Loop Return

CustomerI want to return the coffee maker I bought last week
AgentI can help with that! Here are the items on your order that are eligible for return: 1. Coffee Maker 2. Filter Pack Which items would you like to return?
CustomerJust the coffee maker
AgentGot it. What's the reason for the return? • Damaged • Wrong Size • Changed Mind • Defective • Other
CustomerIt arrived damaged
AgentI'm sorry to hear that. Would you like a refund to your original payment method, or store credit?
CustomerRefund please
AgentTo confirm: Return 1× Coffee Maker (reason: Damaged), refund to original payment. Shall I submit?
CustomerYes
Agent✅ Your return has been submitted! You'll receive shipping instructions by email. Ask me for the status anytime.

Portal as an Option

The Loop returns portal link is always available as a self-service option. If a customer prefers to upload photos or manage the return themselves, the agent shares the portal link instantly. If a customer asks to upload a photo or video in chat, the agent directs them to the portal — media uploads aren't supported in chat for Loop returns.

Recharge Subscription Management

If your store uses Recharge for subscriptions, the agent manages them fully in conversation. Customers can view, modify, and cancel their subscriptions without ever logging into a portal.

Subscription ActionWhat the customer saysWhat happens
View subscriptions"What are my subscriptions?"Lists active subscriptions with product, price, and next delivery date
Swap product"Swap my coffee to Dark Roast"Interactive card shows matching products; customer picks and confirms
Skip next delivery"Skip my next shipment"Next delivery is postponed by one cycle; agent confirms the new date
Change quantity"Make it 2 bags instead of 1"Quantity updated instantly; agent confirms
Change frequency"Deliver every 6 weeks instead of 4"Delivery cadence updated; agent confirms the new schedule
Move delivery date"Push my order to the 15th"Next charge date changed; agent confirms
Cancel subscription"Cancel my subscription"Agent offers alternatives first (swap, skip, slower cadence); only cancels after explicit confirmation with a reason
Update payment method"Update my card"Directed to the subscription portal — card details are never collected in chat
Cancellation is retention-first: before cancelling, the agent always offers one fitting alternative — a product swap, skipping the next delivery, or a slower cadence. Only if the customer insists does it proceed, and it always requires explicit confirmation.

Coupons, Promotions & Discounts

Customers can ask "do you have any coupons?" or "what offers are running?" and the agent shows your real, active discount codes in a beautiful coupon card — with copyable codes, discount amounts, and expiry dates. These are the same codes from your Shopify admin, filtered to only show currently active ones.

Automatic Coupon Nudges

When a customer adds their first product to cart in chat, the agent automatically offers your active coupon codes: "By the way — here's 10% off your order 🎁 [coupon card]". This is a gentle, one-time nudge that increases conversion without being pushy.

Proactive Selling — The Agent That Reaches Out

Beyond answering questions, the Shopify Agent proactively initiates conversations at the moments that matter most for conversion. Every proactive feature has an on/off toggle in your dashboard.

Hesitation Detection (Proactive Assist)

When a shopper views the same product page multiple times — a classic hesitation signal — the agent opens the chat once and offers help with that exact product:

Proactive Assist

Agent👋 I noticed you're back at the Gold Anklet! Want a quick hand? I can check the details, help you pick a size, or suggest something that pairs well with it.
CustomerIs it nickel-free?
AgentYes! It's 18k gold-plated brass, completely nickel-free and hypoallergenic. It also pairs beautifully with the matching toe ring — want to see it?

Post-Purchase Follow-Up

After a customer completes checkout, the next time they visit your store the chat opens with a warm thank-you and a natural cross-sell:

Post-Purchase Greeting

AgentThank you for your order #LL1240! 🎉 It's confirmed — you can ask me anytime for tracking. By the way, customers who bought this often add the Pearl Toe Ring — it ships in the same parcel. Want me to show it?

The suggested product comes from Shopify's own recommendation engine — real data about what your customers actually buy together. Fires once per order, never nagging.

Exit-Intent Offers

On desktop, when a shopper's cursor moves toward the browser controls (leaving your store), the chat opens once with your active coupon codes:

Exit-Intent Offer

AgentBefore you go — here's a little something from us 🎁 [coupon card with active discount codes]

Only real, active codes are shown — never invented or fake urgency. Once per browser session, easily dismissed.

Session Co-Browsing

The agent knows what the shopper is browsing on your storefront (which product pages they've visited), and uses that context to personalize its responses — "the anklet you were looking at" instead of generic product references. This context is used naturally, never recited back as a list.

DC Desk — Your Helpdesk for Human Escalation

Some issues need a human. When that happens, the agent creates a ticket in your DC Desk helpdesk — your built-in support dashboard — with full context so your team can resolve it fast.

When Tickets Are Created

Damaged or defective items — "my anklet arrived broken"
Wrong item received — "I ordered gold but got silver"
Missing items — "my order only had 2 of the 3 items"
Lost packages — "my tracking hasn't moved in a week"
Billing disputes — "I was charged twice"
Refund disputes — "my return was declined but I disagree"

The agent never creates tickets for things it can handle itself — status checks, returns, cancellations, product questions, or general browsing. Tickets are only for issues that genuinely need a human.

What's in a Ticket

Every ticket includes: the customer's name, email, and phone; the related order (with items, total, and status); the reason for escalation; a transcript of the recent chat conversation (so your team knows exactly what happened); and any relevant context. You get an email notification immediately.

Ticket Lifecycle

Tickets are agent-aware — each ticket belongs to the specific agent (and store) that created it. Your team can resolve and close tickets from the DC Desk dashboard. When a ticket is resolved, the customer receives an email confirmation. Customers can also check their ticket status in chat anytime — the agent tells them whether it's open, in progress, or resolved.

Cancellation and return requests also create DC Desk tickets (separate from escalation tickets) so you have a single place to review and approve them.

Everywhere Your Customers Are

The Shopify Agent works identically across channels — same intelligence, same data, adapted to each platform's native format.

How Identity Works on Each Channel

Website — automatic via Shopify login (zero friction)
WhatsApp — phone number matched against the order
Instagram, Telegram, Facebook — email used at checkout (verified against real orders)

No matter the channel, a customer can never see someone else's orders. Identity is always verified before any order information is shared.

Revenue Attribution — See Exactly What the AI Earned

Your dashboard includes an AI Revenue panel that shows, in real dollars, what the agent contributed:

AI-Assisted Revenue

₹12,450

from chat add-to-carts that converted to orders

Coupon Revenue

₹8,200

from orders that redeemed codes shown in chat

AOV Impact

+18%

attributed orders vs store average

Top AI-Sold Products

Gold Anklet
₹4,500

ranked by attributed revenue

Attribution is conservative and honest: AI-assisted revenue counts only the line items the shopper actually added to cart in chat (verified same-buyer, within 7 days) — including upsells, so revenue from the agent's related-product, stylist, and post-purchase suggestions shows up here when it converts. Coupon revenue counts orders that redeemed a code after seeing it in the chat coupon card — which means recovered carts are visible too: every exit-intent offer or coupon nudge that wins back a leaving shopper appears here as coupon revenue. No inflated claims — just real, defensible numbers.

What the Agent Won't Do (By Design)

Some things are deliberately routed to your store or portal — for security, compliance, and customer trust:

Payment details — never collected in chat; customers update cards in their subscription portal
Reordering (Buy Again) — customers can do this from their store account orders page
Shipping address changes — customers update from their store account order page
Loop Returns photo uploads — media is uploaded via the Loop portal (the agent handles everything else conversationally)
Checkout — always happens on your Shopify store, never in chat (full PCI compliance)

The agent is transparent about these limits — it tells customers exactly where to go and why, in one warm sentence.
